PointsBet reported a modest decrease in total group revenue for its first nine months of fiscal year 2026 despite strong performance from Canadian operations, posting revenue of USD $133.4 million as of March 31 compared with USD $134.7 million last year; this decline was offset by notable expansion within their Canadian iGaming segment.
Group Revenue and Profit Overview
After engaging in an intense boardroom battle last year between MIXI Australia and Betr, MIXI completed its takeover of PointsBet by acquiring 66.43%. As part of this acquisition, PointsBet’s financials will now be combined into MIXI statements starting October 1, 2025 – while also changing to March 31 as its year end date.
Even so, despite these changes the company experienced a 6% reduction in gross profit to USD $66.9 million as opposed to USD $71.4 million from prior corresponding periods. Cash active clients increased slightly to 298,100 clients while both Canada (9% increase) and Australia (1%) experienced decline.
Operating Expenses and Market Expansion
Marketing expenses decreased from USD $35.9 million to USD 35.1 million while overall operating costs declined from USD 34.7 million to USD $32.3 million. PointsBet Canada has been active as an operator in Ontario’s regulated market since April 2022 and anticipates entering Alberta soon, expected to launch July 2019.
Performance by Region
Australia experienced a 4% decrease in revenue to USD $108.7 million from USD $112.9 million over 2017, although sports betting gross win margins held steady at 13.3% while net win declined 4% to USD $121.9.6 million.
Strong Canadian iGaming Results
Canada’s online casino segment was an integral factor of growth in 2016, as revenue increased 13% year-on-year to USD $24.7 million and total net win rose 14%, led by slot game net win surging 28 % year on year to USD 16.9 million largely driven by slot gaming net wins; on the contrary sports betting handle decreased 39% year-on-year reaching only USD 115.5 million due to lower VIP play and increasing gross win margins that reduced reinvestments.
PointsBet Canada is making efforts to expand their casino offerings by investing in technology, features, promotions and mechanics that attract more casino-minded customers in line with market demands and trends.
